The white LED lamp is assembled by a plastic bracket and a lamp-emitting chip. In the early days, because the brightness of the lamp-emitting chip was not high, engineers made the plastic bracket into a white bowl shape to enhance the reflection and ensure that the low-brightness chip achieves higher brightness.
But white lamps also have disadvantages:
To express black and gray, his lamp-emitting diode color (white) also participates in the color that the display wants to display, which will cause color distortion (because it cannot express colors, gray, dark green, etc.).
In other words, engineers compensate for the insufficient brightness of the chip by losing color expression.
The concept of the LED black lamp
LED black lamps use black plastic brackets to encapsulate these lamp-emitting chips and make the lamp beads. The color of the lamp beads is consistent, then its consistency is very good, and the color is very rich.
The difference between a black lamp and a white lamp:
The most significant difference between the black lamp and the white lamp of the LED display is that when the screen is not lit, the appearance of the screen is consistent in color, and the display is more beautiful. When lit, the contrast is higher and the background color of the whole screen is more uniform (the contrast ratio of the black tube is 10000:1, the contrast ratio of the white tube is 3000:1. The contrast ratio of the black tube is higher).

According to the test results, the contrast of black lamps of outdoor products is generally 3000:1, while the contrast of outdoor white lamps is generally 1000:1 (due to the strong outdoor ambient lamp, the background brightness of the white lamp display is higher than that in the test environment, and the relative contrast It will be lower.) This is because the black lamp LED display with a black plastic bracket bowl and PPA package has a more uniform background color and can absorb external stray lamp, thus having a higher contrast ratio than the white lamp.
With the development of technology, the brightness and luminous efficiency of the chip have been greatly improved. It is no longer necessary to compensate for the lack of brightness of the chip by sacrificing contrast, so a black lamp with higher contrast and more realistic images is used. Although it will lose some brightness, it can meet people's desire for higher and higher image presentation effects, hoping to achieve realistic effects. At present, the use of clarinets for high-end LED displays is a major trend.
By comparison, the white lamp display is simply weaker than the black lamp display in some functions, but in terms of cost, the black lamp display is more expensive, and the white lamp has a strong price advantage. Customers can choose to buy black or white lamp displays according to actual needs.
High brightness or high contrast, which is more suitable for outdoor LED display?

For indoor display, high contrast is more important than high brightness. And black lamp SMD LED displays have become the mainstream.
But for outdoor screens, the majority of contractors and distributors, and even some terminal users, have always had the inherent thinking that the higher the brightness, the better.
Driven by this kind of thinking, the brightness of many LED displays even exceeds 5000cd. As a result, it will not only cause lamp pollution and affect the owner's approval (the brightness standard of outdoor LED display is 5000CD, and when the brightness of outdoor display exceeds 5000CD, it will be defined as lamp pollution); it will also harm consumers' visual experience and reduce viewing Time; at the same time, it will increase the owner’s electricity bill and increase operating costs.
Therefore, the contrast can determine the subjective clarity of the entire image more than the brightness.
Generally speaking, the higher the contrast, the clearer, and more vivid the image, and the more vivid the color; while the lower the contrast, the whole picture will be gray and it is not easy for human eyes to distinguish. It is important to note that the contrast has a greater impact on the dynamic video display effect. Because the lamp-dark transition in the dynamic image is faster, the higher the contrast, the easier it is for human eyes to distinguish such a conversion process.
The black lamp LED display has a higher contrast than the white lamp.
Therefore, in an outdoor environment, instead of blindly pursuing high brightness that causes lamp pollution and high energy consumption, it is a more feasible method to increase the contrast of the LED display screen to improve the recognizability of the image. Under the same brightness, the greater the contrast, the stronger and more vivid the image displayed, and consumers will have a clearer viewing effect.
